The Ultra base is more expensive with the self cleaning brush and mechanism. It's really up to the buyer, but probably not. If they add up to the 650€ price difference. There are some things that are objectively and subjectively better in the S8. Since I think most people have a mix of flooring and carpeting, it's important they address this issue. And it seems that's the case even with high-end, expensive models (for example, many reviews point out Q Revo significantly outperforms the $1,600 S8 Pro Ultra on floor performance). Right now it seems you have to choose between good floor / mediocre carpet (single roller) or mediocre floor / good carpet (dual roller) cleaning. In the future, I expect a mechanism where when it's on carpets, it uses 2 rollers, but when it's on floors, one of the rollers retracts and some barrier flips/slides down to narrow the opening, giving single-roller, higher-suction performance for floors. Personally as far as value goes, very few other machines come close to the Q Revo This is great for higher thresholds, rugs, or carpet areas that having the mops on would be bad. It also is able to lift its mops an extra 2mm, and you can still completely take them off if wanted or needed. The object avoidance is not as good, but that hasn't proven to be that big of a deal so far anyway. The Q Revo does all the same things for significantly cheaper. In comparison to the Q Revo, I don't personally think it's worth the extra money unless you need/want better object avoidance, and have mostly carpets to deal with. The dock is also simpler, requiring less maintenance to clean it. The dock is the same, wash, empty and dry system, and the mop is the same pad based Vibrarise system. The object avoidance is better than the S7MaxUltra and Q Revo, however it still is not as good as the S7MaxV. This allows for less cross contamination, and, in theory, gains the ability to mop small drops and spills as the brush rolls won't risk sweeping up the extra liquid. ![]() However on the ProUltra the dual roller head can be lifted off the ground when mopping. Suction likes smaller areas, so when spread out you will get less airflow, and this can lead to lower deep clean scores when using sand or dirt on both carpets and hard floors. ![]() That said, it's important to note that even with the higher suction, having the dual rollers means the suction has a larger surface area to work with. Hair on the surface of carpets however should be where you'll see them work significantly better. They have also shown to not be any better at resisting hair tangles, and haven't really shown to be significantly better at deep cleaning in many tests. However, dual rollers only make a real difference for carpets, where that extra mechanical action can make a difference vs hard floor that don't need it. It has dual rollers, more suction, better object avoidance, and it can lift those dual rollers up when only mopping. On paper the S8ProUltra is the better/best machine.
